Cars are optimistic about range (aircon, rain, hills, a charger that turns out to be broken), so every leg is planned to keep this much back.

Station data comes from open sources (OpenStreetMap and Open Charge Map) and does not yet cover every station in the country. Check your operator app before relying on any single station.

Plan an EV trip without the guesswork

The hard part of driving an EV out of town isn't the distance — it's the stretch with nowhere to charge. This tool does one thing clearly: it looks at your actual route, compares it with the range you have left, and tells you where to stop before it becomes a problem, rather than just showing you where stations are.

Every leg is planned to arrive with battery still in it, not to arrive on empty. And when a stretch genuinely has no reachable charger, it says how many kilometres short you are instead of producing a tidy-looking plan that doesn't work.

Frequently asked questions

How are the charging stops worked out?
We fetch the real driving route between your two points, find the charging stations close enough to it to be worth a detour, then pick the furthest station you can still reach safely (weighted towards fast DC chargers) as your stop. From there it charges to about 80% and repeats until the destination is in range. Charging time uses your battery size and the lower of the station's power and the car's own limit.
Why keep a reserve?
Because cars are optimistic. Aircon, rain, a headwind, a climb, or a charger that turns out to be out of service all eat into the number on the dash — so a plan that says "you can just make it" is a dangerous plan. Every leg is planned to arrive with 10% left by default, and you can raise it.
Where does the station data come from, and is it complete?
From open data we are allowed to republish: OpenStreetMap and Open Charge Map. There are 310 stations in the dataset today (as of 4 August 2026), which is fewer than exist in reality — many stations live only inside operators' own apps, which cannot be reused. A stretch with no station shown does not mean there is nothing there.
Is it really free? Do I need a Google Maps key?
Free, and no key of any kind. The map uses OpenStreetMap, the route comes from an open routing service, and the navigate buttons are plain links into Google Maps or Apple Maps, which cost nothing.
Can I save home and work?
Yes — sign in and save the start as home, work or anywhere else. After that one tap fills the field, on any device. Those addresses stay in your account and can be deleted at any time from My places.
How accurate are the numbers?
They are transparent estimates. Driving time comes from real route data but does not include live traffic, and charging time is modelled linearly, whereas real DC charging slows noticeably above 80%. Treat it as a plan with time in hand, not a timetable.
