Your BMI
22.5
A healthy weight for your height is about 53.5–66.2 kg.
BMI is a general guide and does not measure body fat directly. Categories use the WHO Asia-Pacific cut-offs adopted in Thailand. For advice, see a doctor.
About this tool
Want to know whether your weight sits in a healthy range? This BMI calculator gives you the answer in seconds. Just enter your weight and height and it works out your body mass index straight away, telling you whether you land in the underweight, healthy, overweight or obese band.
What sets it apart is that it uses the BMI categories actually applied in Thailand and across Asia, which differ from the standard Western chart. People of Asian descent tend to develop weight-related health risks at a lower BMI, so the bands are tighter:
- Below 18.5 = underweight
- 18.5–22.9 = healthy
- 23–24.9 = overweight, early risk
- 25 and above = obese, worth extra care
Knowing your number is a great first step toward looking after yourself. If the figure comes out higher than expected, try adjusting your meals and activity gradually, then recalculate every so often to track your progress. If you want to go further and see how many calories you should eat each day, hop over to our calorie calculator next.
This tool is free with no sign-up and runs entirely in your browser, so your personal details are never stored or sent anywhere. Do keep in mind, though, that BMI is only an estimate meant to show the big picture, not a medical diagnosis. If you have any concerns about your weight or health, a doctor or dietitian can give you the most accurate advice for your own body.

Frequently asked questions
- What is BMI and what does it tell me?
- BMI, or body mass index, is your weight divided by your height squared. It gives a quick, general read on whether your weight is in a healthy range for your height, making it a handy starting point for looking after yourself.
- Why do the categories used in Thailand and Asia differ from Western ones?
- People of Asian descent tend to face weight-related health risks at a lower BMI than Western populations. That is why the cut-offs used in Thailand treat 23 and above as overweight and 25 and above as obese.
- Does a high BMI always mean I am overweight?
- Not always. Muscular people such as athletes can have a high BMI while carrying little fat. BMI is only a first indicator, so it helps to look at waist size and overall body composition too.
- Is this tool free and do I need to sign up?
- It is completely free with no sign-up. The calculation runs instantly in your browser and your height and weight are never sent anywhere.
- Is my BMI result a medical diagnosis?
- No. The result is an estimate to give you a general picture of your health, not a medical diagnosis. If you are worried about your weight or health, please speak with a doctor.
