About this tool
A live quiz turns a classroom, a workshop or a company party into a small competition in a couple of minutes. You write the questions ahead of time, put the room on a projector, and everyone scans a QR code to answer from their own phone. Faster correct answers score more, and the leaderboard visibly reshuffles between questions — which is reliably the moment the room gets loud.
What makes this kind of tool work is how little it asks of the players: no app to install, no account to create, nothing to remember except the six-character room code on the screen. Someone arriving ten minutes late can still join mid-game, or you can close joining before you start so that everybody competes from zero.
What makes this one usable at a real event:
- 500 players in a single room, with no monthly subscription
- Scored on accuracy and speed, the way every quiz game you've played does it — and speed scoring can be switched off if you want to measure knowledge alone
- Fair on every device, because the 3-2-1 opens the answer window simultaneously and the clock is read on the server rather than reported by a phone
- Multiple choice and typed answers, with as many accepted spellings as you need
- Paste a whole quiz at once from notes you already have, instead of filling in one form per question
After each question the screen shows how the answers were distributed, which is often more useful than the score itself: it tells you immediately which part of the material didn't land. That makes it as good for a pre-lesson check or a mid-talk pulse as it is for a party game.
At the end you get a top-three podium and the full standings, and you can restart with the same group without asking anyone to scan again. Try it once and the quiet slot in the agenda becomes the part people look forward to.
How to use
- 1Write your questions and options, tick the correct ones, and set a time limit per question (or paste a whole quiz at once in the “Paste as text” tab)
- 2Create the room. A 6-character code and a QR code appear on screen for everyone to scan or type
- 3Press start. Every device counts down together, then players answer from their own phones
- 4Reveal to show which option most people chose, then show the leaderboard before moving on
- 5Finish to see the top-three podium — and play again with the same group in one press
Frequently asked questions
- Do players need an account or an app?
- Neither. Players scan the QR code or open the link, type a name, and play straight from their phone browser. The person running the quiz doesn't need an account either.
- How many people can play at once?
- Up to 500 in one room. Every player's screen reads the same shared state, so a large room costs no more to serve than a small one and stays responsive.
- How is the score calculated?
- An instant correct answer is worth 1,000 points, sliding down with the time taken to 500 points for a correct answer right on the buzzer. A wrong answer scores nothing. If you'd rather knowledge counted and speed didn't, turn speed scoring off and every correct answer is worth 1,000.
- Do all the phones count down together?
- Yes. There's a 3-2-1 pre-roll and the answer window opens at the same absolute moment on every device, so a slower connection isn't a disadvantage. The time you took is measured on the server, never reported by your phone.
- Can players type an answer instead of picking one?
- Yes — set the question type to “Typed answer” and list the spellings you'll accept. Case, spaces and punctuation are ignored, so “new york” and “New York” both count.
- How long is player data kept?
- Only the name a player types and their score are stored, and all of it is deleted automatically within 12 hours. No email address or phone number is ever asked for.
- Can I run the quiz from a different device than the one I built it on?
- Yes. Press “Copy host link” and open that link on the other screen. It contains the secret that controls the room, so don't share it with players.
